Sikkim wooing Bollywood

Gangtok, Oct 14: Sikkim’s impressive beauty has won appreciations, but what may come as a misfortune is the dismal conditions of its roads. Narrow highways and potholes leading to Sikkim has now invited Bollywood’s complaints, when the state government is attract filmmakers to shoot in the Himalayan state.Sikkim’s roads have come as a spoiler for Bollywood’s dream. While its scenic beauty has lured many, Bollywood though has a different take. Bollywood actors turned producer-directors Jeetendra and Rakesh Roshan, who are currently in Sikkim, have pointed out the need to improve road conditions. The filmdom duo presently in Sikkim to promote a casino gaming event at a luxury hotel near Gangtok hope improved road conditions would help to showcase Sikkim in Bollywood movies. The duo had to fritter over four hours enroute Gangtok from Bagdogra due to narrow and miserable roads.Rakesh Roshan whose superhero science fiction film ‘Krrish 2’ is to go on floors early December has asserted to shoot some portions of the Hritik Roshan starrer in Sikkim. Roshan had shot Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Koyla’ in Arunachal Pradesh. Speaking to media, the duo observed lack of promotion by the state authorities for these states missing movie locations.Jeetendra and Roshan, whose visit comes as Surprising delight.
